Research and Development
Land & Marine has a long track record of developing new products and techniques. Over the years we have received many awards for our contribution to subsea pipe laying and trenching technology. Examples of our research and engineering development include:
- Linear winches complete with PC based SCADA
- Subsea pipeline ploughs, jetting and trenching machines
- Subsea rock trenching machines
- Subsea LPG bundle installation
- Remote detection and recovery of nuclear contaminated seabed particles
- Surface towing - Flow-Lay® - which is a pipe laying installation technique for flowlines or larger diameter pipelines. Pipelines can be constructed and tested onshore, surface towed to their location and quickly and accurately laid on the seabed, without the need for specialist pipelaying vessels.
Some of the awards we have received include:
- Queens Award for Technology - 1977
- Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Award for Innovation – 1977, 1983, 1985
- Pipeline Industry Guild (PIG) Award for contribution to subsea pipeline installation technology – 1995, 1999, 2007
